This introductory course provides an overview of the American criminal justice system, covering its three main components: policing, the courts, and corrections. Topics include historical development of the criminal justice system, theoretical explanations of criminal behavior; measuring crime statistics, strategies and models of law enforcement, criminal law and procedure, sentencing and punishment, and the juvenile justice system.
