Civil Engineering Technology (AAS)

Stark State’s civil engineering technology program combines core engineering technology courses with general education classes. You’ll gain the technical edge employers want by using industry-standard software for drafting, modeling, estimating, scheduling and structural design. With hands-on labs, field exercises and real‑world problem‑solving, you’ll graduate with the confidence and skills to join engineering, architectural or construction teams – or seamlessly continue into a bachelor’s degree pathway.

A student may take MTH125 College Algebra and MTH130 Trigonometry over two semesters to satisfy this requirement.

Students completing this degree may be eligible to also receive a Civil Engineering Technology – Transportation Construction Inspection Level II Career Enhancement Certificate (4212), a Civil Engineering Technology – Construction Materials Inspection Career Enhancement Certificate (4209) and a Civil Engineering Technology – Civil/Surveying Career Enhancement Certificate (4207).

Program Learning Outcomes

This program is designed to prepare students to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:

  • Performs scheduling and inspecting for conformance to blueprints and specifications. 
  • Utilize modern instruments, methods, and techniques (including CAD) to produce, comprehend, and interpret architectural and engineering construction documents and presentations. 
  • Determine forces and stresses in elementary structural systems. 
  • Mastery of electrical circuit analysis using theory, simulation, and associated laboratory equipment. Ability to recognize and apply semiconductor power electronic circuits.
