Electrical Maintenance Technology (AAS)

Stark State College’s electrical maintenance technology degree program provides an understanding of the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of various electrical systems in electrical and electronic equipment. Electrical maintenance concentrates on the industrial environment and prepares students to maintain and repair electrical/electronic equipment used in government, commercial and industrial facilities.

A student may take MTH125 College Algebra and MTH130 Trigonometry over two semesters to satisfy this requirement.

Students completing this degree may be eligible to also receive an Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology – Industrial Controls Career Enhancement Certificate (4409) and and Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology – Electrical/Electronic Troubleshooting (4408).

Program Learning Outcomes

This program is designed to prepare students to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:

  • Properly apply the National Electrical Code (NEC) to commercial and industrial installations. 
  • Have proficiency in application and programming of digital and analog solutions using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). 
  • Have proficiency in designing and troubleshooting electromechanical controls. 
  • Be familiar with hydraulic and pneumatic systems. 
  • Recognize and apply semiconductor power electronic circuits. 
  • Conducts field investigations.
