HVACR Technology (AAS)

Stark State’s HVACR technology program equips you with the technical know-how and hands-on training you need to meet industry standards. The heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) industry plays a vital role in modern life. It supports everything from health care and technology to food preservation and everyday comfort at home and work.

Students completing this degree may be eligible to also receive a Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technology – HVACR Technician (Level I) Career Enhancement Certificate (4505), Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technology – HVACR Technician (Level II) Career Enhancement Certificate (4506), and a Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Technology One-Year Certificate (4501).

Program Learning Outcomes

This program is designed to prepare students to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:

  • Understand the EPA (Section 608) rules and regulations pertaining to refrigerant handling and recovery.
  • Have acquired a working understanding of psychometrics.
  • With confidence, be able to safely troubleshoot HVAC electrical and mechanical problems.
  • Understand electrical components, controls, and diagrams.
  • Demonstrate appropriate utilization of meters, gages and measuring instruments.
