Program Learning Outcomes
This program is designed to prepare students to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:
- Distinguish relationships between patient, provider, and carrier.
- Demonstrate ability to comprehend and apply different coding systems such as ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT Level 1, HCPCS Level 2.
- Properly fill out claim forms for both outpatient CMS-1500 and inpatient UB04.
- Calculate the Medicare fees by determining the RVUs, GPCI, Adjusted totals, and conversion factors. Determine financial responsibility of the patient by calculating the usual charge, allowed charge, and deductible. Determine the write off and the responsibility of the carrier.
