Toyota TTEN (CEC)

The Toyota T-TEN Regional program is designed to develop students into highly skilled Toyota and Lexus technicians. This is accomplished through the use of Toyota/Lexus curriculum that is approximately 90% hands-on. Classroom and lab activities will be performed on a fleet of new Toyota and Lexus vehicles in a state of the art automotive facility. Throughout the program students will also “earn while they learn” during four eight week internships. Upon successful completion of the Stark State College Toyota T-TEN program students will earn a total of three stackable short-term certificates from Stark State and will become a Toyota Certified Technician.

The T-TEN Career Enhancement Certificate is designed exclusively for the student who is seeking a career as a service technician at a Toyota/Lexus dealership. The T-TEN curriculum combines Stark State College NATEF-accredited automotive classes and Toyota-specific curriculum that is produced by the University of Toyota. The Toyota-specific classes provide Toyota’s core certification modules that are needed for advancement at a Toyota/Lexus dealership.

The T-TEN curriculum is a blend of classroom theory and hands-on lab assignments. The curriculum follows both the ASE and NATEF guidelines. This allows the student to pursue ASE certification.

Program Learning Outcomes

This program is designed to prepare students to demonstrate the following learning outcomes:

  • Students will demonstrate the ability to diagnose and repair Toyota engine systems, including engine performance issues and emissions control systems, using Toyota-specific tools and adhering to ASE standards. This includes proficiency in electronic engine controls, fuel systems, ignition systems, and exhaust systems to ensure optimal performance and emissions compliance.
  • Graduates will be equipped to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex Toyota electrical and electronic systems, including onboard computers, multiplex wiring, and advanced driver-assist technologies. Emphasis will be placed on utilizing Toyota’s proprietary diagnostic equipment and interpreting electrical schematics to resolve issues effectively and safely.
  • Students will develop advanced skills in diagnosing, servicing, and repairing Toyota brake systems, including ABS and electronic brake force distribution (EBD), as well as steering and suspension systems. This includes electronic power steering (EPS) and suspension components, ensuring vehicle safety, stability, and performance in line with Toyota’s engineering standards.
  • Graduates will gain expertise in diagnosing and repairing Toyota drivetrain systems, including manual and automatic transmissions, transaxles, and differentials. Emphasis will be on troubleshooting issues related to power transfer, shifting quality, and drivability using Toyota-specific tools and adhering to ASE certification standards.
